Who Gets the Last Hour in a Docomo Battery?
Japan's March 2025 network-safety standards require mobile base stations on peninsulas to hold up to 72 hours of backup power—a floor that reshapes the business case for grid-connected base-station batteries. DOCOMO and NTT's new workload-shifting trial has the right instinct: its outage mode lengthens backup rather than trading it. Any demand-response programme that follows should report, per site, the backup hours remaining before and after each grid event, measured against that site's regulatory floor.
